What are the objectives of a Rhinoplasty?
Our objectives in Plastic Surgery of the Nose (Rhinoplasty) are:
- Harmonize the nose based on the patient's face
- Search natural results
- Maintain or improve respiratory function
- Fulfill the patient's aesthetic wishes to the extent technically possible
- Produce an aesthetic result that leaves the nose without obvious surgical traces (it is not noticed that it was operated)
- Advise the patient regarding the changes that should be made according to the professional's point of view.
To achieve these results, a very thorough training in the area is required.
The surgery must be performed by a specialist in aesthetics and nasal function. For the nose to look natural and in harmony with the face requires greater technical sophistication.
It is recognized throughout the world that cosmetic nose surgery is one of the most complex interventions. For example, when "filing" the hump of the nasal dorsum, we look for it not to go down in an exaggerated way, but straight, with a harmonic back-to-tip ratio. When we try a globular tip, we look for it not to collapse later or appear pinched.
Surgical interventions last 2 hours on average. Of this total time, only a very short fraction is needed to remove or shrink the nose, this part is fast. If we only do this part, the nose will look artificial, with surgical signs and evident defects. Instead, we used a lot of time to naturalize the nose. that is, to prevent surgical stigmas.
