Rhinoplasty for aesthetic and functional purposes

Many patients who consult by Rhinoplasty have some functional component to solve. In these cases, the intervention is performed to improve aesthetics and nasal function.
The specialization in aesthetics and nasal function allows to give an integral solution in both aspects. The current paradigm is to conceive the nose always from both perspectives, which looks beautiful and allows to breathe properly.

Rhinoplasty for aesthetic purposes

Other patients only want to make an aesthetic change through plastic surgery of the nose. For them, surgery has to conceive the idea that the nasal function must be preserved. That is, the patient must be able to breathe through the nose properly after the aesthetic intervention.

Rhinoplasty for functional purposes

In a few other cases, we received patients who had undergone surgery for aesthetic rhinoplasty and had functional respiratory sequelae. For them, we must perform rhinoplasty for the purpose of improving nasal function.

What is sought to correct with a functional rhinoplasty?

The most common functional Rhinoplasty cases are:

  • Affectation of the internal and / or external nasal valve
  • Vestibular stenosis
  • Inspiratory alar collapse
  • Septal deviation secondary to laterorrinia

What are the objectives of an aesthetic rhinoplasty?

The objectives of Rhinoplasty for aesthetic purposes are the following:

  • Harmonize the nose based on the patient's face
  • Produce an aesthetic result that leaves the nose without obvious surgical traces (it is not noticed that it was operated)
  • Search natural results
  • Find that the patient who breathes well before surgery, breathe well after surgery (take care of the nasal function)
  • Fulfill the patient's aesthetic wishes to the extent technically possible
